Serie A | Cagliari 1-0 Verona – Piccoli Scores Consecutive Goals
Cagliari secured their third win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona on Friday evening, thanks to a clinical finish from Roberto Piccoli. This win lifts Cagliari above Roma, placing them temporarily in 12th position in the Serie A standings.
Prior to the match, just one point separated the two teams, and both had struggled, winning only one of their last five Serie A games. Despite this, Cagliari dominated the game with 65% possession and 14 shots, three of which were on target.
The breakthrough came in the final 15 minutes of the match. From a throw-in in the final third, Antoine Makoumbou and substitute Mattia Felici combined effectively on the left flank, freeing up space for Felici. He delivered a precise low cross from the byline, and Piccoli was there to tap it home from close range on his first touch.
Cagliari managed to hold onto their one-goal lead for the remainder of the game. As a result, they have climbed to 12th place, overtaking Roma, who have dropped to 13th. Meanwhile, Verona remain in 16th place with 12 points from 14 matches, facing the risk of slipping into the relegation zone if Monza and Como secure positive results over the weekend.
